Personal Vow Writing
The Challenge of Writing Wedding Vows
Wedding planning is no small task, and writing your own wedding vows—while a wonderful way to make your wedding special—can be extremely daunting, especially with everything else you have to worry about.
Long-standing wedding traditions like personal wedding vows are the bedrock of what your wedding ceremony represents—true love bonded forever. So of course you want your vows to be meaningful, to speak to your strength as a couple, and to express your solidarity and dedication to one another. Your loved ones and closest friends will likely all be watching, and most importantly your partner. You want that moment of exchanging your vows to be as perfect as you pictured in your head. You want to see that look of happiness on your future husband or wife’s face as you affirm your promises and commitments to them.
…It’s a lot to take in!
The pressure to capture the moment so you and your partner will remember it for the rest of your lives is enough to make anyone want to throw in the towel and revert to the safety of more traditional—but impersonal—marriage vows. That’s why it’s my goal to make the process simple for you. Here’s how…
How I Can Help
Adding personal vows to your wedding ceremony will be one of the most memorable aspects of your big day. Whether it’s romantic wedding vows recounting your love story, funny wedding vows incorporating your inside jokes, or religious wedding vows spotlighting your commitment to your faith and one another, I promise to craft your emotions, stories, and devotion, into the perfect vows that’ll make your wedding day unforgettable.
The Process
Getting to Know You
Your answers will inspire me to design your ceremony into what guests will remember for years to come. Every memory, feeling, and hope for the future will be yours. My job is to capture these thoughts and compose an articulate script that you and your partner are proud of. Read some sample pieces below.
Storytelling
In order for me to write a truly memorable and personal piece for your wedding ceremony, I need to learn some details of your relationship. The questions are driven to unearth the most intricate details – for example, I will not just ask about the first time you met, but if you remember any specifics of that moment. Do you remember what you were wearing or what he/she was wearing? Maybe you remember the way your partner laughed or interacted with someone else. Was there a moment you knew this person was the one, and if so, did you happen to be eating a double cheeseburger with fries at the moment? Since then, what other discoveries have you made about your partner that are endearing? These are the details that will make your ceremony stand out from the traditional cookie-cutter molds we have all heard a hundred times. Read some sample pieces here.
